Cushions and Upholstery

When you think of upholstery, you no doubt automatically think of a sofa, or possibly a big plush arm chair. A big chunk of those pieces come down to the cushions that sit on them.

Some of the custom details on your sofa/arm chair can make quite a difference to the look of the piece.

Cushions can be tailored in different ways, lets look at a few:

Knife Edge Cushion

Knife Edge
This style of cushion usually has a welted seam around the centre, but not all the way around.

Box Welted Cushion
Box Welted
This style of cushion can have welting (piping) along the edges, which would give it another look again. The box welted cushion is a popular option which gives your piece a polished look.

Waterfalls
This style of cushion is popular in modern stye of furniture (and in restaurant booth seating), which is made with one contiuous piece of fabric that goes over the top and give it more of a rounded finish.

So if you are having a piece of furniture reupholstered, consider  changing the style of the cushions to update the look of the piece. it's the little things that can make all the difference.
