What First Impression Are You Giving?

Just imagine you are driving down the road and you see a banged up car in front of you. It has dings and scratches, the back has seen better days and you'd be lucky to even open the door. Now, you see the signage on the car: "Bob's Panelbeating." What thoughts go through your head?

Do you think: 'Wow, they are professionals, look at the fine workmanship on that car!' Or do you think more along the lines of: "If they can't take care of their own vehicles, why on earth should I take my car there?"

I'm sure some would think that it's a 'demonstration model' and it's either designed to get attention or for the panelbeaters to practice on. (Either way, 'Bob' needs to make it clear what he's trying to achieve.)

With that in mind, imagine yourself walking into your business. You see a few tears in the counter seating, the vinyl on the booths is dated and faded, and you can even see a seat with some stuffing poking out. What do you think your customers will think about you? Will they think: 'Wow, I'm really looking forward to being here, they are going to look after me!" Or are they going to be thinking more along the lines of: "This place better be cheap. I'm not expecting much!?"

Of course you want your customers to think that they are about to receive phenomenal service, that they'll be looked after, and are in good hands. Do you think they'll be thinking that if they walk into your business and see all the disrepair?

As you know first impressions are crucial, in business a good first impression is vital in creating repeat customers.  According to Wikipediait takes just one-tenth of a second for someone to make their first impression.  So why would you give your customers a bad first impression with your upholstery?

It's not hard to create a great first impression: look the part, and be the part. Take care of your interior the way you intend to take care of your customers! If you have any repairs that need to be made, need on-going maintenance or are considering a whole refit email or free phone 0800 NZ Upholstery (0800 698 746). So we can help you look the part!

So have you come across a company that really needed to 'walk the walk'?
